Trump is a simple character. He has, so far, walked back most claims he made during his campaign. Look up credible sources, not social media. While there's no doubt he's misogynist, probably a racist chauvinist, definitely a vindictive authoritarian kind of guy, it's also true that he has a great talent for convincing people to vote totally against their own interests.
When, in the past, the working class, seniors, voted against themselves by voting Republican, there was at least the partial excuse that in modern times the Democratic Party shifted to far to the right, lessening their historical role as the party of the workers, middle class and the poor, also embracing 'identity politics' to such a degree. They let the GOP drive deeper wedges between the classes and the people fell for it.
Classic divide and conquer. I totally understand everyone's disgust with congress, brought about mostly by right wing obstructionism, and decades of winner take all political extremism, plus the demise of GOP commitment in governing for the good of the country, instead for their 1 percent backers. What's really scary about Trump is that he's so immature, adolescent, believes he has some idea of what it's like to live in "the real world.”
They work for daddy awhile, then take over at the top. They never have had to worry about coming up with work to pay bills, eat, buy car parts, beer. They think stiffing workers is just good business. They know it all, have billions, power, think they can do what they want, get what they want, in a world that they really don't understand. Dangerous. I'm sure the Pentagon brass and many other top people understand this. His voters don't want to know, or don't care. Welcome to a really twisted Rumpus room.
