Port Townsend is my hometown. I was born here at Jefferson Hospital. I have lived here all my life, except for the six years I served in the Army.

I served in Vietnam from July 1968 until December 1969. I went there thinking I was helping keep communism from America. I came home confused and pissed off. Our leaders had lied to us, from the president on down.

I never lost my love for America and all it stands for. I can’t say the same for politicians.

I don’t understand these people who are trying to turn my hometown into a sanctuary city. I believe immigrants should come to America, legally.

How many of these people wanting this to happen are willing to take in some of these illegal immigrants, only temporarily, of course. They will need food, clothing and a place to live until housing is available.

How about the homeless veterans who fought for this country, came home, lost their way and are now living on the streets. How about taking care of Americans first?

I understand Port Townsend received $11 million in federal funds in 2016. That money was supposed to go to law enforcement, highways and environmental protection.

If the sanctuary city proposal goes through, where is the money going to come from to cover the above?

Illegal immigrants moving into your town is a crime. If they don’t bring a business with them, then they will be looking for work just like the locals are – less work.

It’s against the law what some are trying to do. If this goes through, the federal funds will be taken away.

It’s like the three little pigs inviting the big bad wolf in for dinner, not realizing you’re dessert.
