LETTER: Please shop local

When I saw an elderly woman (my age) racing down the sidewalk using a three-wheeled walker, I knew I had to have one. I was using a four-wheeled walker on loan from ECHHO, but it was too heavy for me to lift into the trunk of my Honda Civic.

I looked online and of course, Amazon came up with samples. I copied the picture of the one I wanted, which weighed just 7 pounds, and took it to Don’s Pharmacy and talked to Anthony and asked him if he could order it. He said yes and did, and I received it at the same price I would have paid at Amazon, and it arrived the next day. When I picked it up, he took it out of the box, attached a few things, and I was good to go. He even recycled the box for me.

I do try to shop local, but can’t always find what I want. After this experience, I will ask if they can order the item. I have always done that with the Writers’ Workshoppe/Imprint Bookstore when I want a special book, and they deliver within a few days. Shop local.
