I was saddened to learn that Gabe Ornelas has lost his final battle.
Gage was a true patriot.
As sheriff of Jefferson County, I lost a mentor and influential member of my Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Advisory Committee.
Gabe was always gracious and true to his values. He was Los Angeles Police Department “blue” through and through. Gabe retired as a captain. He had a passion for community policing, which I have embraced. We at JCSO have implemented “Blue Courage.”
We are striving to be peace officers in the footsteps of Capt. Gabe Ornelas. I will miss our chats and his sage advice.
