I am concerned about the citizens who walk and bike our roads at night.
So many times, they are walking on the wrong side of the road in dark or black clothing. Oncoming drivers do not see you until they are right on top of you. Some bike riders not only wear the same type of clothing, but ride bikes that don’t have reflectors or headlights and/or taillights.
Do you have a death wish? If a car or truck hits you, the hospital will be one of the two options you will have.
The other option will be a police officer to go to your home and tell your mother, father, child, sister or brother you are dead. I can tell you with experience that is something you don’t want them to go through. I had to answer the door at the age of 13 to find out my father was hit.
Please don’t make me or another driver have to live with hitting you for the rest of our lives.
Please wear a reflector garment or vest. Bike riders, make sure your bicycle has reflectors or reflection tape, a working headlight and taillight so everyone can go home happy.
