LETTER: City income tax? Why not county, too?

It seems to me that a 1.5 percent income tax for city services (fire, police, streets, etc.) is reasonable for incomes more than $200,000.

That tax would apply only to the part of the income more than $200,000, so an income of $210,000 would mean a tax of $150. If the income were $40,000, there would be no income tax since that is not more than $200,000.

The real question in my mind is why not the county as well? We use the library, drive on the streets, enjoy the parks and other assets.

Being near Port Townsend allows us use of the city at no cost.
