LETTER: A reflection on Easter, and on activism

Posted

The “People’s Republic of Port Townsend” is flush with committed peace activists. It includes the annual North Beach sunrise bonfire gathering, inspired and mentored through the years by Elizabeth and James Rotchford.

This Easter morning, the sun rose blushing brilliant, a vibrant vermilion, crimson hue to a melodic, pulsating tide as Rev. Simon Ruth de Voil strummed his guitar and our heartstrings with songs about the triumph of peace and love.

And, also, thanks to Wandering Wardrobe and St. Paul’s Episcopal Church for this humble, powerful offering.

It’s a joy to share this magical, mystical burg with those who value peace and work for the good of the whole.

Port Townsend’s spectrum of community activism is diverse, singular for a small city.
