LeRoy Walter Glessing, 94 of Port Townsend passed away May 21, 2023.
He was born March 12, 1929, to Walter and Helen Glessing on a farm in Ireton, Iowa. Later his family moved to Baudette, Minnesota, where he grew up on a family farm.
He graduated from Baudette High School and married his high school sweetheart Carol Schweitzer on Aug. 11, 1950. In 1959 he and his family moved to Port Townsend where he worked for many years on a clam boat and later worked and retired at Carl's Building Supply.
He is preceded in death by his parents Walter and Helen Glessing, and his brothers, Delbert Glessing, Donald Glessing, and Charles Glessing. He is survived by his sister Della Daughton of Plymouth, Minnesota; his three children, son Neil Glessing, daughter Noel Denny and son Brian Glessing; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
LeRoy enjoyed working on his tractors, working on various building projects, spending time with his family and gardening. Those who knew LeRoy will remember him for his sense of humor, his easy-going nature, his willingness to help others and his work ethic. LeRoy loved the Lord with all his heart and led a life devoted to God, his family, service to others and his church.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 10 at Irondale Church. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Irondale Church, Irondale, Washington.
