Leader welcomes new editor

Hatch Schneider is the new editor of the Port Townsend and Jefferson County Leader, and he has the newsroom on a tight leash.

He has worked as a reporter and editor across the U.S. for more than 30 years. He got his start writing about dangerous chemical additives found in dog food for the national publication High Country Paws.

Early in his reporting career, he won the prestigious Pawlitzer Prize for his famous article, “Man Bites Dog.” He later worked as the executive editor of the Corgi Chronicle in San Francisco for 15 years.

We are excited for him to join the team at the Port Townsend Leader—unleashing a ray of hope to the office in troubling times.
