A blustery, but dry day greeted the Port Townsend Ladies Golf Club as they gathered to end their 2023 golf season.
While some members may play into the fall, weather permitting, the official "season" closed with competitive play, awards, and a luncheon meeting to plan for the 2024 season.
The last official Tuesday game day ended with a tie for first place low net. Linda Deal and Barb Matter posted a score of 36. Following play the ladies gathered for their awards luncheon.
Among the notable awards given were the club championships. In September, players competed in two rounds of 9 holes on separate days. The combined 18 hole scores were tallied and the low gross championship was awarded to Betty Gastfield. Low net championship was won by Barb Matter.
Additional prizes and awards were given for outstanding service to the Ladies Club, the golf course and the community. These volunteer members gave time for course preservation and beautification, and held golf instruction clinics for local youth. Club Captain Katherine Buchanan was given an award and gift for her many years of leadership.
