As of June 2015, Jefferson Healthcare Foundation has two new board members, Joyce Cardinal and Judy Tordini.

Joyce Cardinal, R.N., MBA, has been a registered nurse since 1968. After one year as a pediatric nurse, Cardinal began working in critical care units in California, Oregon and Washington. She worked as a staff nurse until 1980, and then worked as a director of critical care in Oregon. In 1996, she moved to Port Angeles, where she served as a chief nursing officer until 2006, next moving to Bellingham, where she worked as quality director at Skagit Valley Hospital for five years. Cardinal returned to the Olympic Peninsula in 2011 to serve as the chief nursing officer at Jefferson Healthcare, a position she has held for the past four years. She has served on various committees and on the United Good Neighbors Board of Directors since moving to Port Townsend.

Judy Tordini, R.N., is a registered nurse educated in the Midwest, and is a longtime heart-health advocate on the Olympic Peninsula. She was formerly the director of cardiac services at Olympic Medical Center for about 30 years, and the director of nursing for the Jamestown Family Clinic. She is certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and was recently promoted to be the cardiology program manager at Jefferson Healthcare. Tordini is responsible for continued program/service development, performance improvement and business integration. She works closely with physicians providing cardiology services to develop and ensure patient-centered care, evidence-based services, integration of services and continuity of care. Tordini is a strong community supporter and has served on many boards, including Olympic Medical Center Foundation, Soroptimists, YMCA and the state secretary of the U.S. Naval Academy Parents' Club of Washington.

"Judy and Joyce are both incredible women who are passionate about improving health care in Jefferson County," said Dr. Todd Carlson, Jefferson Healthcare Foundation president. "They bring the experience of working on volunteer boards coupled with professional health care familiarity and understanding. I have had the opportunity to work with Judy and Joyce at Jefferson Healthcare and have been so impressed by their care for our patients and our community. I know our board is growing with the right mix of gifted professionals who will make a difference."
