The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 228 calls for service between Saturday, Aug. 13 and Friday, Aug. 19. Below are selected reports.

At 9:05 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 in Nordland, a woman said a man had gotten upset at her because her dog was not on a leash and the man became aggressive toward her.

She said he then attempted to run over her dog and tried to follow her home.

She also said she gave the man the finger.

Authorities soon received a call from the man involved in the dispute.  He said he was attacked by the woman and knew authorities had gotten involved because he had been listening to his scanner.

The man told a deputy the woman had sicced her dogs on him. He said she also complained and said she was filming him, started yelling at him, and then yelled to everyone within earshot, “There goes a Democrat!”

The man also said the woman threatened him by saying she was going to take photos of his license plate.

The man said he didn’t call 911 because he didn’t want to waste the resources of emergency responders.

He said he felt the dogs were stalking him and added he had to go knee deep in the water to escape the hounds.

The woman was advised to keep her dog on a leash.

At 9:03 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 in Port Townsend, authorities received a report of a woman who had gone missing while at the beach.

A caller said the woman should not have been left alone because she had a health condition but the friends who had dropped her off had just left her there.

A search-and-rescue team started organizing a search but received a call at 9:49 p.m. that the woman had returned home and was safe.

At 10:46 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15 in Port Hadlock, a caller reported an incident that happened at 9 a.m. An unwanted woman was on the property, and the caller said it was an ongoing issue.

The woman was not being aggressive or threatening.

The incident was reported for information only at this time.
