The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 355 calls for service between Friday, Feb. 24 and Friday, March 3.

At 10:41 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 in Chimacum, a caller reported finding an abandoned backpack.

The item was thought to belong to a homeless person.

A deputy checked the backpack but did not find anything inside that would identify the owner.

At 11:22 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 in Port Hadlock, littering was reported on a property across the street from the caller.

Fencing material had been dumped; six rolls of fencing and green poles were left behind.

At 5:43 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 28 in Port Townsend, a caller reported a vehicle that had been left abandoned at the end of the road.

The vehicle was believed to be the property of two transients who were living in a trailer next to the vehicle.

A deputy contacted the couple, and they said they were waiting on parts to fix the vehicle. They also said they were actively trying to leave the area.

At 7:31 a.m. Wednesday, March 1 in Chimacum, a missing person was reported.

A woman said her daughter did not come home the night before; she was last known to be heading out to a bar.

It was determined the daughter had stayed at a friend’s house because she had been drinking, and the mother called back 40 minutes later to say she had located her daughter.
