The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 369 calls for service between Saturday, March 18 through Friday, March 24. Below are selected reports.

At 11:39 a.m. Tuesday, March 21 in Nordland, a resident reported getting a fraudulent letter from Key Bank about opening an account.

The letter said an account had been opened online, and someone had used the caller’s birthdate, name, Social Security number, phone number, and address.

At 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, March 21 in Port Hadlock, a woman reported a dog fight and said her daughter had been bitten.

The woman said she wanted an animal control officer to come over and “put down” her dog.

The woman was advised that the county’s animal control officer does not dispatch animals, and that the animal shelter would need to be contacted to see if someone was currently at work who could handle the request.

The caller said she would just call the animal shelter herself, or her vet, to do the job.

At 6:53 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 in Port Hadlock, a woman said her neighbor was harassing her.

It’s an ongoing issue, she said, and the man had just slammed his back door. She said he yelled at her and said she could follow him if she wanted.

She said he had been harassing her for the past five years, and follows her when she is walking her dog. She also said that anytime she is outdoors, the man will come out to check his mail even though he doesn’t get mail at his home.

She said she was getting ready to leave and the neighbor came outside and began yelling at her, and it was upsetting. She said she was unable to do anything in her yard because she feared he would cause issues.

The woman also said he was a felon who had a dislike for law enforcement. She wanted a deputy to talk to the man and have him stop harassing her.

A deputy spoke with the neighbor, and he said it was the woman who had been the harasser.

He said he had more important things to do in his life than deal with the neighbor, and he recalled closing his curtains so she wouldn’t look inside his home.
