The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 252 calls for service between Friday, Dec. 30 and Friday, Jan. 6. Below are selected reports.

At 7:29 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 1, a stranded motorist on the West End asked for a search-and-rescue response after his vehicle broke down on a spur road off of the H3200 Road.

The caller was afraid but said he was armed with a shotgun. He also said he had a couple of bottles of water, as well as a chainsaw and an axe to start a fire if necessary.

The man also said he only had a 20 percent battery charge on his cell phone.

The man was told there could be a significant delay in a deputy response to the call given the man’s location, and the man was told to be prepared to be there overnight.

The caller said he would try to contact a family member. He was advised against having family members come to the scene because they could also get lost and complicate things.

A deputy arrived at the scene three hours later.

The man and a friend were located, but their car was not working and would have to be towed in the morning.

The man said he would stay with his grandfather in Forks and remove the car the next day.

At 9:37 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 3 in Port Hadlock, a woman called 911 to report that her boyfriend had texted her that he was going to stab her.

She said he was down the road but she was alone in the house with an infant. She gave authorities the name of her 36-year-old boyfriend, and said he was drunk and had been up all night.

A deputy arrived and was told the woman and her boyfriend had been arguing since the previous night. He had left but they continued to communicate via Snapchat.

The threat from the boyfriend seemed vague, and was sent in response to a statement by the woman when she said she felt like she had been stabbed in the back.

His response was ”I’ll stab you in the front.”

The woman was concerned about him because of his aggression and his impairment.

The pair have been together for a month and do not live together.

The woman said she would seek a protection order from the court, and both parties agreed their relationship was over. The man was advised to cease contact with the woman.
