The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 626 calls for service between Friday, April 21 and Friday, May 5. Below are selected reports.

At 7:52 p.m. Monday, May 1 in Quilcene, a caller reported a burglary and said thousands of dollars worth of items had been stolen.

A Jayco-brand “toy hauler” trailer was gone, and the washer and dryer in the home were also stolen. Four .22-caliber rifles were stolen, as well as a brown leather couch.

The victim called back to say he had found the possible location of the trailer on a social media post, and said it had been seen parked in Port Angeles three hours earlier.

Authorities in Clallam County went to the location but the trailer was no longer there.

At 10:01 a.m. Thursday, May 4 in Port Ludlow, a resident said she was assaulted by a woman who came to her door and told her she needed to get out of the home immediately.

The woman forced her way inside the home, and became hysterical.

She said she owned the property and accused the resident and her husband, a 70-year-old with mild dementia, of being squatters.

The resident sustained a hand injury from the door when the stranger forced her way inside the house. The intruder also started pushing the resident on the shoulder as she tried to make the residents leave.

The confrontation ended when a neighbor arrived.

Authorities soon learned the identity of the intruder, a woman in her mid-30s, and talked to her father. 

He said his daughter was in downtown Port Townsend, and has a delusions that she owns different properties but actually doesn’t.

He said that when he divorced his wife in 2000, his daughter and ex were living at the address where she forced her way inside. He said his daughter has mental health problems and refuses to get help. She continues to insist that a cousin signed over the Port Ludlow property to her when she was 12.

The woman was located and arrested for first-degree criminal trespassing.
