Jefferson County Sheriff's Log | A daughter's dilemma

Posted

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 369 calls for service between Saturday, March 18 through Friday, March 24. Below are selected reports.

At 10:46 p.m. Saturday, March 18 in Nordland, a man said his daughter was being harassed by other middle-school students in a group chat on social media.

The children were calling his daughter names, and kids started making fun of the man and his wife after he told them he was calling police.

The girl, 11, goes to school in Chimacum. The father said 12 other students were involved in the harassment, and he said he didn’t have the opportunity to contact the school because school was out.

The man said he only knew the names of a few students, but when he reached out to a parent of one of the children, the parent said it was all his daughter’s fault.

The man said his daughter had been “firing back” during the online chat but only to defend herself.

The man said he would take his daughter to school Monday to meet with school staff and also to mitigate against any retaliation against his daughter.

He said he wanted law enforcement to do something if the school couldn’t remedy the situation.

The man was advised to call back if needed, and also told to have his daughter discontinue using the app and to block the other students on social media.

At 9:45 a.m. Sunday, March 19 in Port Hadlock, a deputy on patrol saw a home where the front door had been left open.

The deputy checked the residence and it appeared someone had been inside drinking and stripped wiring from the home.

The house was empty. The deputy closed the door and left.

At 11:18 a.m. Sunday, March 19 in Brinnon, a resident reported shooting nearby.

The caller had been contacted by a house cleaner, who heard 20 to 30 gunshots approximately 15 minutes earlier.

A deputy visited a nearby property and the resident had also heard gunfire, and said the sounds were coming from a nearby Forest Service road.

A deputy checked the area but did not find anyone.
