The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office received 240 calls for service between Saturday, March 5 and Friday, March 11. Below are selected reports.

At 9:33 a.m. Monday, March 7 in Port Ludlow, a theft was reported in the 100 block of Mats Mats Beach Road.

The theft may have occurred several months ago.

The caller said the theft involved the taking of a distressed alder tree. Someone had been hired to take down the tree and cut it up into firewood and share it with the resident.

The caller never got any firewood out of the deal, however.

A deputy determined the dispute was civil, not criminal.

At 7:02 a.m. Tuesday, March 8 in Port Ludlow, a caller in the 100 block of Village Way said someone had stolen a Ring camera within the past few hours.

At 9:06 a.m. Tuesday, March 8 in Port Hadlock, suspicious activity was reported in the 300 block of Hadlock Bay Road near the Port Hadlock Marina.

The caller said someone in a parked silver-and-black Charger was acting suspicious.

The caller, a marina employee, had asked the person to leave without success.

A deputy contacted the driver of the Charger. He was from Indiana and said he had an appointment with someone to talk about buying a boat that was at the marina.

The man’s claim was confirmed by text messages.

The man agreed to wait elsewhere for the meet-up with the boat owner.

At 9:14 a.m. Tuesday, March 8 in Chimacum, someone reported threats at Chimacum Middle School that had happened the day before.

One student had threatened two other students.

No crime had actually occurred, and the school said it was handling the incident internally.

At 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, March 8 in Quilcene, a theft was reported in the 7700 block of Center Road.

A caller said it happened the day before, and someone tried to steal a mini-bike.

The motorbike was found removed from its storage spot and placed near a hedge.

The caller planned to improve security by putting up more lighting in the area and installing cameras.
