The Jefferson Museum of Art & History will present several new exhibitions when it opens to the public Friday, April 2.
Peggy Smith-Venturi’s “Unwrapped” will be on display in the Ferguson Gallery, according to the Jefferson County Historical Society.
Created in her Port Townsend studio, this exhibition features Smith-Venturi’s sculptural work from the last 12 years. Through her awareness and research she fabricates three-dimensional, carefully contained works of art, waiting to be unwrapped.
Also on display, Karen Lené Rudd’s “Port Townsend Paper.”
For this exhibition, Rudd will link the people, the labor, and the natural resources of the Pacific Northwest by installing life-size sewn jeans made of Port Townsend Paper Mill brown kraft paper.
This concept is a part of “Port Townsend Paper: Past, Present, and Future,” a collaborative series in partnership with the Port Townsend Public Library, City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend Paper Company, KPTZ 91.9, and Swan School.
