Jacqueline Stella Bunnell-Corey passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023, in Port Townsend , Washington. Jackie was born at Bayview Hospital in Port Townsend on February 12, 1933, the sixth girl and youngest child of Floyd Nelson Bunnell and Myrtle Stella McIntyre Bunnell.

Jackie grew up in Quilcene where she had fond memories of school and family life. An excellent student, she graduated from high school in 3 years with honors and was recognized by the National High School Poetry Association for her contributions to the 1950 Anthology of Northwest High School Poetry.

Jackie married Donald Joseph Corey on June 3, 1950 at the Quilcene Presbyterian Church. They resided in Brinnon for most of their lives in an historic home built from river stones. She was well-known in the Brinnon Community where she worked as a cook at the Brinnon School, a teller at the general store, a postal clerk at the post office, and eventually in her own video store and antique shop alongside her husband’s Stihl Chainsaw repair shop. Together they provided years of smiles and service to locals. Jackie always had a warm welcome, a cup of coffee, and a slice of cake for anyone who stopped in to say hello. She loved a good game of any name, but she especially enjoyed playing a friendly game of poker with family and friends.

Jackie was preceded in death by her husband Donald, her parents Floyd and Myrtle Bunnell, her son Rusty, her five sisters: Vivian, Virginia, Leona, Joyce, and Betty, and her half-brother and half-sister, Wayne and Carol Bunnell. She is survived by her children: Randy Corey (Gay), Cathy Olsen (Mike), Jeffrey Corey; 7 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren.

Jackie will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by her family friends, and the Brinnon community.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
