In gratitude: car and bike parade

Posted

In March it was National Physicians Week. Last week it was Nurses Week. This week it’s Hospital Week, and I am so grateful for the providers, nurses and hospital in our remarkable Public Hospital District. It is so easy to forget how lucky we are to have Jefferson Healthcare in our small rural county. The staff has responded to the challenges of this pandemic with dedication and expertise. They have prepared for the worst and have shown their best. They continued to provide urgent and emergency care safely, became creative in reaching out with telemedicine, have worked seamlessly with our local public health department, and are already providing additional services as allowed by the state. I have no doubt they can provide needed services safely, and already have an appointment for care later this month.

Today May 13, from noon to 12:15, there will be a bicycle and car parade around Jefferson Healthcare Hospital. Let’s all get out and show our gratitude for our hospital district staff. Bikers meet at 10th and Sheridan, 6 feet apart. Cars will line up along Sheridan as well. Then we’ll all drive and ride honking, yelling, holding up signs of gratitude as we turn down by the emergency room/Express Clinic and continue around in front of the Waterside entrance and back up by Manresa. Don’t be late – it will be short, loud and heartfelt.
