Night work that required a four-hour continuous closure of the Highway 104 Hood Canal Bridge was postponed until next week due to bad weather last week, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
The span will now be closed from 10 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29 to 2 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30. Crews could extend the length of the closure to traffic, depending on work progress, WSDOT officials said.
WSDOT crews need to finalize temporary repairs to the system that guides and connects the drawspans together. The work requires crews to secure industrial-sized bumpers to the areas where the bridge’s halves come together.
