Helen Gue Shaw passed peacefully from this world on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020.

She was born on March 22, 1936 and raised in Seattle, Washington. A graduate of Central Washington University, Helen spent her career as a teacher and coach with Tahoma School District, Maple Valley. She never lost touch with many of the young women she coached, and she served as a beloved friend and steady role model as well as a teacher for 31 years.

Helen’s retirement was spent exploring, expanding and learning. With partner, Patty Henderson, Helen traveled globally, taking pictures of landscapes and wildlife. With her sister Edith, she climbed mountains and hiked in the Himalayas, Yosemite, and beyond. Always an inspiration, living life with a dry wit, coupled with a kind word, she was pretty much everyone’s favorite.

Preceded in death by brother Larry, Helen will be missed deeply by her survivors: partner and love of her life Patricia Henderson; sister Edie Roland (Craig); nieces and nephew Catherine Duke (Jerry), Joe Shaw (Mo), Leah Roland (Eric) and Megan Wallace (John).

A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Jefferson County Animal Control Shelter, DOVE House Advocacy Services, Port Townsend or Echho Port Townsend.
