Guidance sought for Land Trust

Jefferson Land Trust is poised to develop a four-year strategic plan that will guide the organization into 2029, and they are seeking a consultant to help.

Jefferson Land Trust is a private, not-for-profit conservation organization based in Port Townsend. The agency works with landowners who want to permanently protect wetlands, floodplains, farmland, wildlife corridors, working forests, and scenic areas from inappropriate development.

This from their website: “From protecting habitat for wildlife to facilitating the generational transfer of working land to keep it in sustainable production, we’ve worked with landowners, government agencies, the timber industry, the U.S. Navy, new and experienced farmers, and community groups on a wide range of projects."

The strategic planning process will include a retreat workshop with the 12-member board and executive staff, in addition to a process for engaging Jefferson County residents and stakeholders.

The planning process, according to land trust staff, would begin late spring and conclude by the end of the year.

The organization is seeking a strategic planning contractor that has extensive experience with nonprofit organizations, particularly those with environmental and land trust missions.

Background on the Jefferson Land Trust is available at www.saveland.org. The current strategic plan for 2019-2024 is available upon request.
