The Gospel Opry Band kicks off its 2017 season Sunday, Feb. 5, playing country, blues and gospel music for all ages.
“The event is geared for family entertainment, so you come and laugh and enjoy some good music,” said Bill Wolfe of the event at New Life Church.
Wolfe, known as “The Pickin' Pastor,” played professionally back in the 1970s and early '80s, touring with country music legend Merle Haggard.
New Life Church’s pastor formed the Gospel Opry group, which also features local fiddler Jon Perry, who's “very well known and very good,” Wolfe said.
The free event takes place at 6 p.m. the first Sunday of every other month. The community is welcome to attend. “The whole thing is to have fun,” Wolf said.
New Life Church is located at 1636 Hastings Ave. in Port Townsend.
