Fred Esson

Fred Esson passed away at age 71 from a short battle of cancer. His partner Shelley and her brother Paul took care of him and were by his side as he passed.

Fred looked forward to the Wooden Boat Fest where he managed the Wee Nip with his beloved volunteers for 10 years. He enjoyed helping out at the Strange Brew Fest, where he would wear a costume to fit each year’s theme. He volunteered for Centrum at many music fests.

Fred was a member of the Rakers Car Club, North Olympic Mustang Club, and was a nationals judge for the Mustang Club of America.

Fred was a member of the Carpenters Union in California and Washington for 40 years. He worked in San Francisco and lived in Petaluma for many years. He moved to Port Townsend in 2002.

Fred is survived by his daughter, Tammy Esson; brother Jim (Mike) E. Esson; sister-in-law Alice P.; sister Patricia J. Rose; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren and many other cherished family members. Most of the family lives in Michigan where he grew up.

He was preceded by his father James M. Esson, mother Ann F. (Plunket) Esson and brother John M. Esson.

Fred’s humor and fun-loving character will be missed by all.
