The Jefferson County Food Bank Association recently marked a significant chapter in its history as it welcomed Patricia Hennessy as its inaugural Executive Director.

Hennessy’s experience includes fundraising, relational cultivation, start-up management, sales, marketing, and strategic growth which positions her to further the Food Bank mission.

“I am thrilled to join the Jefferson County Food Bank Association in its mission to address the growing needs of our community,” Hennessy said. “Together, we will work towards building equitable, sustainable, and resilient regional food systems, providing the foundation for healthy and thriving communities.”

The appointment coincides with the retirement of board member Shirley Moss.

President Deisy Bach expressed gratitude for Moss’s exceptional service.

“We are immensely grateful for Shirley’s remarkable contributions to the Jefferson County Food Bank Association over the past 26 years. Her passion for our mission and tireless efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of those in our community.”

Moss’s accolades include the Citizen of the Year award, a Governor’s Award, and two Lifetime Presidential Awards from Barack Obama and Joe Biden. Her creation of Senior Saturday, an initiative benefiting seniors in the community, stands as a testament to her commitment.

“While the organization will undoubtedly miss Shirley’s daily presence and invaluable contributions, there is a sense of joy as she embarks on a well-deserved retirement journey,” added Hennessy.

The Food Bank Needs Volunteers in our mission to fight hunger and provide essential support to those in need.
