The city continues to prejudice the community against the golf course even in their invitation to an open house saying it was the community’s desire to explore different uses for the golf course.
That community was the city council after they paid $20,000 for someone in Florida to assess golf course. The report seems to suggest we wanted Pebble Beach.
We the actual community does not. Golfers like the clubhouse and trees and rocks the report suggested removing. The high cost had over $50,000 for tree and rock removal and suggested replacing the entire irrigation system and all equipment. No one would do that. Hence the description “ridiculous” for the report for by everyone who knows anything about the golf course.
Please do not be prejudiced by this report. A new one is coming.
Also note the golf course with good management pays for itself and pays rent to the city and through tournaments gives thousands of dollars to local groups and charities. Also the course is recovering from three COVID years like everyone and everything. Also since that report in 2019 the city and the Player’s Club have done a lot of the work needed. The city does not have to spend much if anything for the golf course but they could be spending a great deal on the health and wellness center and building other sport venues.
The city just authorized $175,000 for a company to figure out the health and wellness center building design so they can hire someone to give a cost estimate on building it. Do we really think they will also build all the things you ask for?
The goal of the health and wellness center is to get people outside and exercising. We should let them know there is a golf course across the street that gets people of all ages outside exercising while giving thousands of dollars to the community. It should be their mascot. We already have more health and wellness practitioners per capita than most places.
If you would like the city to know you really would like them to fix the streets instead you can email the council at firstname.lastname@example.org.

You're right on Msse.!! Next they'll want to turn Memorial Field into a nature trial for bikes. Community need a golf course but not a Pebble Beach.

I am part of this community; I'm not part of city council; I'm for options other than reserving that public space for the sole use of golfers, a minority in PT.
