Members of Quimper Arts will exhibit their work at Elevated Ice Cream through the month of June.
The community can expect to see a variety of artwork from a dozen local artists, all as colorful and as tasty as the parlor’s assortment of frozen treats.
Quimper Arts is a group of artists who draw, paint, and even sculpt live models every Monday at Port Townsend’s Masonic Lodge. They also offer classes on different art-related disciplines.
What was established in the 1980s, Quimper Arts has been on a mission throughout the years to bring art and art demonstrations to the public. Their number of participants took a dive with the pandemic, but they are hoping to recruit new members with this public installation.
“There’s so many artists in this community,” said Nancy Lucas Williams, the exhibit’s organizer.
“It’s a great place for people to come and practice their craft and also have some camaraderie.”
A variety of experience and ability levels are all welcome to join in.
“Quimper Arts is really a venue for the newcomer to art or the old-timer to art,” Williams explained.
“We celebrate all artists. We celebrate all art, all styles.”
“It’s an opportunity for people to just be free and express their art as they want without judgement,” she added.
A portrait demonstration by local artist Tracy Grisman will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5 behind Elevated Ice Cream on its back patio. At the event, some of the showcased artists will be available to discuss their works and to share information about the group.
