It is clear to me, after the results of the primary election, that the voters in Jefferson County want a seasoned health care professional to join the board of hospital commissioners.
Cheri Van Hoover fits the bill to a tee, and we are fortunate to have a person of her caliber running for office.
We need a person on the board who has hands-on experience in the clinical care arena, but also a good grasp of national directions in health care policy and administration.
Cheri has been teaching graduate level healthcare policy for over 10 years, and knows the trends that are likely to shape our rural hospital district in the future. There is much uncertainty on how the federal government is going to address the Affordable Care Act with potential cuts to Medicare and Medicaid.
We need a leader like Cheri to guide the board during these treacherous times.
