Property tax payers are being hit by all sectors of government: Port Townsend School District ($1.178 per $1,000), Washington state education increase (91 cents per $1,000) and now the proposed Proposition 1 (36 cents per $1,000) for a total of $2.448/$1,000.
On property valued at $300,000, it is an increase of $734.
Three residential developers had proposed a total of 700 housing units – see The Leader, July 12, 2017, “Residential projects face slowdown, downsizing” – but some have scaled back, and others are not moving forward as fast as they thought they would.
Could the developers have heard of this proposed new tax and hope tax money will be coming their way?
