ELECTION LETTER: Hospital board needs McComas’ skills

Posted

I am proud of our community-owned hospital, as medical facilities across the country are being consolidated and privatized.

Jefferson Healthcare has made great progress in allowing local people access to high-quality cancer care, orthopedic procedures, MRI scans and improvements in medical technology.

We are fortunate to have a dedicated and democratically elected board of our peers to steward this multimillion-dollar enterprise. But that is a tall order for a volunteer board.

For that reason, I am supporting Bruce McComas in the upcoming election for hospital commissioner.

Bruce is no stranger to Port Townsend’s ranks of super volunteers, having spent many years in service to this community. More importantly, Bruce has extensive business experience as manager of the Port Townsend Paper Corp. mill. He has the business savvy to analyze financial issues facing our medical system. We need his skills on the hospital board, and Bruce McComas has my vote.
