Eating Crow


Two weeks ago, we ran an editorial criticizing the County Commissioners on their unanimous decision to pass an ordinance that would allow them to unilaterally remove from the courthouse anyone they deemed unfit.

Thanks to the quick research of two of the county commissioners, Greg Brotherton and David Sullivan, it has come to our attention that we were reading the code of conduct for the courtroom, not the courthouse. The Leader regrets this error.

Lloyd Mullen is the Publisher of the Port Townsend Leader. He writes the newspaper’s editorials and occasionally writes personal columns under the heading of Mullen It Over.

Things have changed a lot since the first sheriff I recall from my teen years. It was not unknown for him to show up at his office in the morning wearing bib overalls.
