Dorothy (Dot or Dottie) Hopkins, 90, passed away peacefully on December 21st, 2017 after battling cancer for a number of years.

She was born November 13th, 1927 to Lucille (Woolaver) and Stillman Brown in Discovery Bay, WA. She married Albert Hopkins on July 28th, 1968 in Bremerton, WA.

Dorothy was a hard worker and had a variety of jobs. These included working as a waitress at logging camps and other businesses. She was an owner of a small grocery store and gas station, a counselor at the Fort Warden Juvenile Delinquent Center, Ordinance Worker at the Bangor Annex, as well as many State positions including her last position as a State Auditor, which she retired from in 1990.

Whether it was driving to the Discovery Bay area to visit with friends and family, or traveling down to Yuma, AZ for the winter, Dorothy was always on the move. She was an avid league bowler well into her 80’s. Other favorite pass times included sewing, gardening, gambling, spending time with her family, and conversing with anyone in sight. With her love of ice cream, it was no surprise to see her eating a banana split or drinking a shake at the Red Apple Diner. Dorothy was also a lifelong member of Eastern Star and the Order of the Amaranth.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Albert, three brothers George, Stillman (Pete), and John Brown. Two sisters Sue (Mildred) Northup and Diana Schmith. Dorothy is survived by her daughter Cindy (Lawrence) Taylor of Union, WA, her two granddaughters Allie Taylor, Cassie (Andrew) Urvina, and her great grandson Hunter Urvina; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice. At her request no services will be held.
