During the weekend, Jefferson County families and friends celebrated as students said goodbye to their high school lives and started the next chapter into adulthood.
For some, that next chapter means continuing their education both locally and afar, while others have decided to jump straight into the workforce or enlisted to serve in the United States military.
Although they are starting down a path to the next chapter of their lives, the graduates still have a lot of decisions to make. What to study? What about making a career out of the military? Does entering the workforce mean a permanent situation in an industry, or taking some time off from education to develop work skills before possibly advancing one’s academic career? What do I want to do to better myself and make myself proud?
However, individual students are the only ones who can answer those questions for themselves. And, the best part is, they don’t have to have it all figured out now. It’s just the beginning of that next chapter. While moving into adulthood, this is the time for the recent graduates to truly find themselves. They get to figure out who they are, who they want to be and what they love and enjoy doing. These are the important things to learn so a person does not lose who they are while they are traveling down the road of life.
As they are discovering these aspects of life, The Leader reminds the graduates to truly find what makes them happy, embrace it and follow their dreams. When it comes to an area of study or a career path, choosing what makes you happy will only set you up for success. You will not only enjoy what you do, but you will be good at what you do when you like what you do.
It’s a great feeling when one has chosen a career path letting them feel like they do not work a day in their life. Everyone deserves that happiness.
Do what makes you happy and what will make you proud of yourself. The Leader would like to congratulate the class of 2018. We wish you nothing but the best in whatever path you choose to take in finding who you are and your happiness.
