The blues are back.
For the first time in more than a year, Discovery Bay Brewing Co. will host Chicago Bob’s Gently Amplified Blues Jam.
Led by the Midnight Train Blues Band, the jam revolves around a lot of blues classics and every tune has space for whoever wants to join in.
“This is a different experience from an open mic,” said Chicago Bob Longmire.
“At our jam, people are welcome to play along all night with the band. We’ve had guitars, horns, harmonicas, blues fiddlers, flutes, vocalists, dancers — anything you can imagine. And people are coming in to sing, laugh, dance, and just to listen to the great material we play!”
He started the monthly jam in 2015, keeping it up until the spring of 2020. COVID restrictions cancelled the event for the past year, but Chicago Bob’s Gently Amplified Blues Jam is finally back. Beginning at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 20, the jam will take place in the venue’s beer garden. This event is family-friendly with no cover charge.
It will be a regular affair with following jams planned for the third Sunday of every month.
