David Michael Brooling, age 79, died on Sept. 1, 2022 at his home in Belfair, Washington.

David was born on Nov. 16, 1942 in Port Townsend, Wash. to August Gilbert and Beatrice Agnes (Gill) Brooling. David was raised in Port Townsend, and graduated from Port Townsend High School, Class of 1961. He worked as a gas pump attendant, Boeing storekeeper, shear operator, sheet metal mechanic, and oiler, before going back to work with Boeing until his retirement in 2010.

David’s hobbies included traveling with Maureen to Oregon. He also enjoyed playing the slots, camping, and gardening. David was a parishioner at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Townsend.

David is preceded in death by his parents, August and Beatrice Brooling; his brothers, Larry, Gerald “JT,” and Gary Brooling; and his sister, Sandi Brooling. He is survived by his son, Gerald “Ness” (Stefennie) Brooling; two grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews.

There will be a funeral mass at St. Mary’s Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Port Townsend at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, preceded by a rosary at 10:30 a.m. Father Peter Adoko-Enchill will preside over the funeral. After the service, there will be a reception at St. Mary’s. The family invites all attendees to wear a Hawaiian-style shirt to the service in honor of David.
