I contracted COVID volunteering outdoors. I brought it home to my husband who is almost 80. He came down with a positive test on a Saturday morning in Port Townsend.
After calls, and call messages, misinformation, and getting asked to leave urgent care, the ER took pity and gave us a prescription for meds.
Waiting three or four days to get meds is dangerous, although the county is very casual about response times. The virus is doing damage while you wait. You just need a couple minutes with an actual physician to get a prescription.
The county REALLY needs to rethink its weekend process. Maybe rotating on call doctors? Maybe use pharmacists? Leaving phone messages when you are old and sick and afraid is very sad. Maybe we could chip in and buy cell phones for the COVID team?
