During the pandemic, one of the Zoom groups I attended read the book “The Immortality Key.” I was surprised to see Port Townsend mentioned.
Prior to reading the book, I hadn’t realized our city’s global significance in the psychedelics movement. When my mom’s Peninsula Daily News arrived with a Port Townsend feature on the front page I learned that our county commissioners are making history by taking a stand for decriminalization of the use of entheogenic plants. I told Mom I’d share my Leader article when it arrived. It never arrived. Forbes.com has an article about Port Townsend’s history making but my Leader is surprisingly silent on the matter.
How is it possible that this historic aspect of our culture is omitted from the only local newspaper?
