Connie Rae Rogel (nee Schuler) of Bonita Springs, Florida passed away peacefully on Nov. 20, 2022, at the age of 79 years.

She is survived by Steven R. Rogel (husband); Wendy A. Mueller (daughter); Horst Mueller (son-in-law); Zachary K. Mueller (grandson); Ryann R. Mueller (granddaughter); Julie C. Leonard (daughter); Jeffrey R. Leonard (son-in-law); Jakob J. Leonard (grandson); Jordan R. Leonard (granddaughter); and Randall S. Rogel (son).

Born to Dorothy and Clifford Schuler on July 2, 1943, Connie was raised in Ritzville, Washington. She married her childhood sweetheart, Steve, in 1964 and the two embarked on an amazing journey through life. Upon Connie’s graduation from Seattle University in 1966, they moved to Brookhaven, Mississippi where she worked as a schoolteacher during desegregation. In supporting her husband’s career, she lived in Nackawic, New Brunswick, Canada; Albany, Oregon; Natchitoches, Louisiana; Portland, Ore., and Tacoma, Wash. Connie built a home and network of friends in each community.

Connie and Steve retired to Port Ludlow, Washington and Bonita Springs, Florida. Connie will be remembered for her creative, social, and “feisty” nature. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed gardening and the arts. Later in life, she volunteered her time with the Lakewood Garden Club and the Pilchuck Glass School. Connie valued education and was a benefactor to Seattle University and the University of Washington. The family has requested that remembrances be made in the form of contributions to the Hilltop Artists (https://hilltopartists.org/).

A celebration of life is planned for summer 2023.
