Congressman Kilmer: 'Vice President and cabinet should invoke the 25th amendment' and remove Trump

Posted

Congressman Derek Kilmer issued a call for President Donald Trump to be removed from office.

Kilmer, who represents Washington's 6th District in the U.S. House of Representatives, said the 25th amendment of the Constitution should be invoked.

In a statement released following a riot by Trump supporters in Washington, D.C. Wednesday, Kilmer said Trump was "unfit for office."

Kilmer's statement:

“The president is manifestly unfit for office. He has demonstrated it time and again over the last four years and his actions today incited violence not just against the Capitol building but against our representative democracy.

"I agree with retired U.S. Navy admiral and former Joint Chiefs Chairman Mike Mullen that Donald Trump is 'not in a position to lead the next 14 days' and that 'we need to act in a preventive way to prevent more from happening.' With that in mind, I believe that the Vice President and cabinet should invoke the 25th amendment.”

Right, let's spend the next 12 days P'sing away more of our tax dollars, that will surely help heal and unify the Nation.

Your such a joke Just In Hale, Trump never minded spending tax dollars, increasing the deficit, what about that stupid fence? Immigration policy to lock up children, remove the U.S. from participating in world conferences, etc. The only thing that will unify this nation is when people like Trump are punished for their crimes. It will be great to finally see him in a courtroom, explaining all his dirty dealings.

25th Amendment

SECTION 4. Whenever the Vice President and a majority of

either the principal officers of the executive departments or of

such other body as Congress may by law provide, transmit to

the President pro tempore of the Senate and the Speaker of the

House of Representatives their written declaration that the

President is unable to discharge the powers and duties of his

office, the Vice President shall immediately assume the powers

and duties of the office as Acting President.

Note that Congress could choose to make the cabinet irrelevant in this process and designate some **other body** to make that decision. I'd suggest the Supreme Court.
