Concerts on the Dock are back this summer

You can tune an instrument — but you can’t tuna fish — down at the docks this summer because live music is making its comeback.

Concerts on the Dock return to downtown Port Townsend’s Pope Marine Park plaza on Thursdays, beginning Aug. 5 through Sept. 2.

Presented by the Port Townsend Main Street Program, the showcase offers live tunes along the waterfront; a beer, wine and cider garden; and a place to relax and enjoy the scenery set to a soundtrack.

“We are excited to bring live music back for summer now that Washington is fully reopened. Musicians are ready to play, and the public is looking for entertainment,” said Mari Mullen, executive director of the Port Townsend Main Street Program, in a recent press release.

“Plans are still being developed, and things will look different this year, with some elements scaled back from a typical year to allow more space,” she added.

This year’s line-up includes:

Billed as the ultimate dance band, Uncle Funk and The Dope 6 will perform Aug. 5.

On Aug. 12, Abakis, also known as Aba Kiser, will perform her delicate blend of classic soul led by powerhouse vocals and Kottke-style fingerpicking guitar.

Performing audience favorites from the ’60s and ’70s on Aug. 19, Sound Advice is a Motown, soul and rock-n-roll dance band.

The Merry Makers will show off their mix of psychedelia and roots rock on Aug. 26.

On Sept. 2, Kevin Mason & the PT All Stars will bring the hot dance music with their takes on rock, soul, Motown, and R&B.
