Bigger and better than ever, the Comic Book Swap Meet returns April 30 to the Tri-Area Community Center in Chimacum. The swap meet is open 11 a.m. - 7 p.m.

What started as a small gathering of comic book and pop-culture fans has blossomed into a "mini Comic Con," thanks to Steve Strout, known for his stand-up comedy and to convention-goers for his event recaps and interviews with celebrities and creative types.

The Comic Book Swap Meet is basically a miniature version of a comic and pop culture convention. The show features a vendor room with comics sellers, special guests, area artists, cosplay, a gaming area and more.

This year's event features four comic-book creators: Mark Rahner, Scott Adams, Ryan Fisher and Greg Smith.

Rahner is a journalist, radio host and film critic. For his comic writing, he's known for series such as "Twilight Zone," 'Vampirella" and "Rotten" (co-created with Robert Horton).

Adams is a Bremerton-based comic creator recently coming off a busy appearance at Emerald City Comicon. His creator-owned series "Sukotto" has been flying off the shelves at comic shops around the Northwest.

Fisher also appeared at Emerald City Comicon. He recently published the graphic novel "Torchlight Lullaby," which sold out before its official release. He is a regular on the convention circuit with an extensive background as a graphic designer and comic creator.

Smith wrote bestselling graphic novel "Junior Braves of the Apocalypse," now in its third printing.

The Comic Book Swap Meet's gaming area is provided by Whistle Stop Toys, with space for game play and demos.

Attendees are strongly encouraged to dress up as a favorite hero or character.

Admission is $5, or $3 if accompanied by a nonperishable item for the local food bank. Limited VIP lanyards are available for $10, which include admission to the show, a collectible lanyard featuring art by comic book guest Scott Adams, and a "Sukotto" print with a portion of the proceeds going to charity.
