First from the perspective of a tourist, and subsequently from that of a local resident, Port Townsend’s charm attracts people because of its history, art, and beauty. Beauty of its Sound coastline, its brick buildings of yore, its exclusive and quaint downtown shops, its vibrant outdoor market, its marina, its coffee shops, bakeries, and restaurants.

The beauty of this town welcomes you as you drive in, down a main street lined on both sides with gorgeous poplar trees.

The same trees that are now in the cross hairs of destruction. Our town and our planet need every one of those trees, and there are always alternatives to devastation.

Trees may be trimmed instead of chopped down, and business expansion can certainly take a different direction.

Whether poplars are native to this region or not, they belong along both sides of Sims Road. City of Port Townsend: Please listen to those of us who care about this town and beg you to save the poplars along both sides of Sims Way!
