FEB 13, 1931 – FEB 7, 2018
Born February 13, 1931 and passed away February 7, 2018 surrounded by his family.
He was born to Gottlieb and Christina Ackerman in Volt, Montana.
He came to Quilcene as a young boy and met his future wife, Dolores Such. They were married December 28, 1954. He built his home in Quilcene where he farmed and raised his family.
He is survived by his wife Dolores, daughter Ilene (Ron) Berg of Shelton, son Jeff of Quilcene, grandson Alex Monroe of Quilcene, granddaughter Stephenie (Vance) Clark of Puyallup, granddaughter Ashley (Brett) Hoffman of Quilcene. Three great grandchildren, Cody Hoffman Quilcene, Haylie Hamza Puyallup, and Holly Hoffman Quilcene.
Also survived by brother Alvin Ackerman, Quilcene; Marvin Ackerman, Shelton; Elmer Ackerman, Gig Harbor; and Herbie Ackerman, New Jersey; two sisters Tillie Springer in Brinnon and Betty Jane in Oregon; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and numerous friends he acquired over his 87 years.
He was an active farmer, clam digger, hunter, fisherman, and a great tinkerer. He loved the outdoors.
His career included being a rigger in Bangor and at Indian Island before his retirement.
He also served in the United States Marines.
Graveside service Saturday, February 17th at 11am at Quilcene Cemetery in Quilcene, Washington; potluck immediately following at Quilcene Presbyterian Fellowship Hall. Sequim Valley Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
