Caribbean steel band coming to Concerts in the Woods

The Caribe Steel Band will perform at the next Concerts in the Woods in Coyle.

From reggae classics like “Stir it Up,” “I Shot the Sheriff,” and “Three Little Birds,” to rock hits like “Ob La Di,” “Here Comes the Sun,” and “Baby I Love Your Way,” Caribe blends its lively instrumentals with pleasing vocals to deliver sounds of the Caribbean.

Caribe consists of steelpan musician and vocalist Angie Tabor, local bass player John Sanders, and drummer Tor Brandes. Since their debut performance in early 2017, the band has been entertaining audiences across the Olympic Peninsula.

They are getting to entertain audiences with the songs they love, Tabor said, and are excited to energize crowds once again with songs reminiscent of summer.

This “power trio’s” brand of reggae, calypso, soca, samba, and pop tunes with an island twist will warm the soul and lift the spirit.

Tabor said the band is feeling sheer excitement to be able to perform live.

“It almost feels like a first gig again because it’s been so long,” the musician added.

Describing the previous audiences at Concerts in the Woods as “incredibly warm and inviting and enthusiastic,” Tabor added, “we’re excited to be back because it’s just always such a welcoming crowd.”

Taking place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday,
July 24, the outdoor concert will be located on the grass at the Laurel B. Johnson Community Center. Pack a snack, bring your lawn chairs or picnic blankets, and dance the night away to the rhythm of the steel drums.

Admission is by donation. All ages are welcome. Complimentary cookies, coffee, and conversation will be provided during an intermission.
