On May 8 at 10:45 p.m., the Brinnon Fire Department responded to a residential structure fire on Old Point Whitney Road.
JeffCom 911 reported that the garage was fully engulfed and threatening the residence.
The first engine arriving on-scene took a position in front of the residence, and firefighters aggressively attacked the fire, pushing flames back and away from the home.
The garage and vehicles inside were a total loss, while the home suffered minor smoke and heat damage to the external wall facing the garage.
The fire was extinguished within 35 minutes, but crews remained on-scene for approximately four hours and a fire watch stayed posted at the scene until early in the morning of May 9.
No one was injured.
The cause of the fire is underway and undetermined at this time, but foul play is not suspected.
Mutual aid was received by the Brinnon Fire Department’s partnering agencies of Mason County Fire District 17, Quilcene Fire Rescue, Port Ludlow Fire and Rescue, and East Jefferson Fire-Rescue.
Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly offered special thank-yous to Mason County Public Utility District 1, the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and JeffCom911 for their support and service.
