Early Music at the Grange Presents...
Flûtes-en-Bois - A Baroque Flute Ensemble

Saturday, March 30th at the Quimper Grange Hall, 1219 Corona Ave, Port Townsend.
Doors open at 1:30 p.m., concert begins at 2:00 p.m. $20 admission.

Directed by Janet See, Flûtes-en-Bois is a truly unique ensemble, possibly the only one of its kind in the country. The ensemble was established in 2010 as a result of a large and enthusiastic gathering of local baroque flutists at the renowned Seattle Baroque Flute Workshop, held each summer at Seattle Pacific University.

The flutists perform on wooden, one-keyed baroque flutes, which is the type of instrument for which all 18th century flute music was written. The sound is particularly sweet, warm, and expressive. They are supported by cello on the bass lines.

Flûtes-en-Bois performs music of the 18th century and also carefully selected works of 19th and 20th century repertoire, transcribed for the group by two of its members.
