A resident at Avamere at Port Townsend, an independent and assisted living community in Washington State, is being featured at the Northwind Arts Center.

Marlene Hall’s acrylic paintings are on display during November for visitors to enjoy.

Hall has been an artist since 1962, beginning with paintings of old houses. Her recent work style is intended to convey a sense of freedom and exploration.

Her pieces invite viewers to take a closer look, according to the Northwind Arts Center.

“It is difficult not to imagine what stories these paintings tell, and they inspire one to unravel their content, find patterns of deeper meaning, or simply enjoy the levity they offer,” a gallery spokesperson stated.

Hall shared the following about her artistic journey:

“I did not begin any drawings or painting until we moved to Mendocino, California, in 1962. I was 32 years old. Then I began a rush of casein paintings of old houses. This lasted until we moved to Banff, Scotland, in 1973. Then a short period of oil painting before we moved to the Big Island, Hawaii, in 1994.”

After her husband Martin passed away in 2005, she started acrylic painting. Her paintings on display at the gallery feature work from that time until today.
