Re: the letter from Mr. Poeschel, “People of conscience please take note.” I agree with most of what he says and all of the substance of his letter.
I have been stunned and sometimes it leaves me breathless, the depths that some leaders in the Republican Party will sink to, to stay in power. E.G. Ron Johnson on national TV arguing the merits of what constitutes an armed insurrection!? WTH!
I also agree that many of the Republican leaders are rotten to their core. And many in the base are deluded.
But let’s face it, most Americans need/want leaders. They decide who that leader is and then they follow their directives and their advice. Unfortunately they’re getting erroneous, hateful and egregiously wrong information in many cases. They’re deluded because they’re getting incorrect information, to put it mildly.
But what I think is that we need to reach out to one another, I watch a lot of MSNBC and often I find myself screaming at the TV, “You’re preaching to the choir, dang it!” You should be talking to those same people who are listening to Fox & Friends and believing the absolute vile garbage that comes out of their mouths.
We all need to do that; pointing fingers, laying blame and calling names is not going to solve anything or help. Mrs. Obama said, “When they go low, we go high”; she was right to say that.
As a nation we rise or we fall together. There is no in between. I believe Uncle Joe can right the ship, I believe that deep in my heart. But he needs our help and if we’re going to help we need to come together. God bless America! And all the ships at sea.
